María is responsible for Symbiotics Asset Management’s legal, risk and compliance affairs. She joined Symbiotics in 2014. Prior to Symbiotics, María worked for over twelve years as an in-house legal counsel in the mainstream asset management industry in Geneva and Luxembourg. María holds a master in law from Universidad San Pablo-CEU, Madrid (Spain), a master in European Studies from Université Catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) and a Diplôme d’Etudes Juridiques et Economiques de l’Union Européenne from the Université de Paris I Pantheon Sorbonne, Paris (France).

Yannis joined Symbiotics in 2007 as a Senior Market Research Analyst. After a 3-year intermezzo (2011-2014), working notably as risk manager for an innovative Impact Fund, he rejoined Symbiotics as a Portfolio Manager, before taking charge of our Discretionary Mandate team in 2017. Before Symbiotics, he held various functions in finance and development at the United Nations on Trade and Development, ILO and Capital International. Yannis holds a Master degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute in Geneva as well as a Master of Advanced Studies in Globalization, Social Regulation and Sustainable Development from the University of Geneva. He has been a Certified International Investment Analyst since 2011.

Cyril Bouchu is a seasoned financial leader with over 25 years of experience in shaping client-focused investment strategies across Investment Banking, Wealth Management, and Private Equity. Known for his strategic insight and innovative approach, Cyril has a track record of challenging the status quo to deliver bespoke solutions that align with the evolving needs of institutional investors. At Symbiotics Asset Management, he leverages his extensive international experience, spanning Paris, London, and Geneva, to drive sustainable growth and impactful financial practices, always prioritizing client success.

Luz is the Fund Manager of REGMIFA (Regional MSME Investment Fund for Sub-Saharan Africa) and joined Symbiotics in 2021 as a Portfolio Manager. With over 10 years of experience in the impact investment industry, she previously served as the Director of Hedging Services at MFX Solutions. Her career also includes roles at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Treasury of Citibank Mexico. Luz is an economist with a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. In terms of certification, she is a CFA® charter holder and recently became a Certified Expert in Microfinance from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

Michael joined Symbiotics in 2018 as a Senior Portfolio Manager and is a member of the Investment Committee. He has over 20 years of investment experience as a portfolio manager and investment analyst at several asset managers and fund of hedge funds, including Unigestion, KBC Alpha Asset Management, and Natixis AM. Michael holds a Master’s degree in Econometrics from the University of Roma La Sapienza, as a post Master degree in Economics and Statistics at ENSAE (Paris). He has been a CFA charterholder since 2005.

Medali joined Symbiotics in 2012 as an Investment Officer in Mexico, moving to Geneva in 2016 to lead debt investment origination for Latin American financial institutions. She later transitioned to asset management, serving as Senior Advisor for Symbiotics’ unhedged funds before leading the Advisory Team in 2021. A member of the Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee at Symbiotics, Medali previously held various roles in economic research and social entrepreneurship at the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America, Banco Palmas in Brazil, and Ashoka in Colombia. She holds a Master’s in Economic Development from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s in Economics from George Washington University. Medali is a Peruvian national and is fluent in Spanish, French, English, and Portuguese.
